Aplomb is a lighting design and manufacturing studio founded by an architect with a background in interior design, whose refined sensibility is reflected in the creation of unique atmospheres.
With an approach that blends cultures and influences, the brand establishes itself as a continuous exercise in discovery – an intentional search for forms, materials, and proportions that reflect identity and timelessness.
Its authenticity is built through the combination of noble materials, meticulous finishes, and a deep appreciation for Portuguese artisanal heritage.
Each piece is handmade in Portugal by skilled craftspeople who master techniques passed down through generations, giving every object a unique identity.
The result is a distinctive collection where architectural precision meets the poetry of detail, creating objects that exist between the functional and the emotional, between the design and the soul.
The studio
Aplomb Lighting was created by Mariana Gilsanz, an architect with a background in interior design, whose refined sensibility is reflected in the creation of unique atmospheres.
Mariana believes that the future of design involves a return to detail and uniqueness – that objects should be created to last, to be with us throughout our lives, if we so desire. This attention to quality and detail, the search for stories and origins, and the way all this translates into each creation – in every line, in every design – are the foundations of the brand.
This is where the harmony between shapes, proportions, colors, and textures is explored – in a constant search for balance and the right expression.
Our atelier
We have chosen to work with local production, collaborating with Portuguese artisans whose technical skill and sensitivity are deeply valued. These are people who master techniques passed down through generations. At our workshop, located 15 km from the centre of Porto, we carry out the final stage of production : a process focused on detail, where each piece is carefully hand-assembled following traditional craftsmanship.
Our small, multidisciplinary and dedicated team oversees each step with care. The hands that build, adjust and perfect every detail ensure that each piece reaches you with the authenticity, quality and care that define our work.
